Accurate history of the established of Jhenaidah Government High School is unidentified to Peoples. The history of the school is based on information obtained from local citizen and old documents of the District. At first Jhenaidah High English School was established on the banks of the river Nabaganga adjacent to the city in 1877. Until 1980, the school was located on the banks of the river Nabaganga. As the number of students increased towards 1971, the school needed to be relocated. Mr. Md. Abdul Quader Joardar donated the land of the present school. It started its official journey for the first time under Kolkata University on 15 June 1966.

At present, the school has a two storied academic building with 22 rooms of them 18 classrooms and 4 laboratories, a single storied administrative block, a two storied students hostels, and two dormitories including a separate residential building for head master on an area of 6.27 acres. Moreover, there are a hall room with 150 seats and a library in the school campus
