Rangamati Government High School

Rangamati Government High School is educational orgnziation. It is also known as RGHS. it  is the first high school in Chittagong Hill Tracts in Bangladesh. It's one of the ancient schools of Bangladesh. this school started its journey in 1890. The motto of school is  "Knowledge is power". During the 1971 war, many of its students were killed. The school has created leaders, policy makers and professional people. Both tribal and non-tribal students study in the school. It is co-educational.

The school has the reputation for being one of the top ranked schools in Bangladesh. The school has created many great leaders, policy makers and many prominent figures in all aspects of profession who have contributed their wisdom not only for Bangladesh but also for the world. Many of the students & teachers have participated & sacrificed their life during the historic liberation war of Bangladesh in 1971.

More than 1000 Tribal and Non-tribal students study in the school with co-education system.Current school area is 13.16 Acr.

Uniform of Rangamati Government High School

The mandatory uniform consists of a white shirt, white half pants, and sneakers for the boys of class 3 to 5. Boys of class 6 to 10 wear a white shirt, white trousers, and sneakers. On the other hand, girls from 3 to 5 have to wear a white shirt with a green skirt and green salwar, with white trouser for seniors.

"Gyan-E-Shakti" is the motto of the school, which appears in the monogram.

Class and section system of Rangamati Government High School

According to the root plan the school should have started its program from class 3. There are two shifts: morning and day. Presently all the classes from 3 to 10 are running. There are mainly 2 sections in each of the class in the day shift, but no sections in the morning shift..

1. Academic bunting and tassel color
2. Green Morning Shift
3. Dark Blue Day Shift

Facilities in Rangamati Government High School

1. There is a system for distributing Tiffin at the school during recess. ‘Singara’,‘samucha’, ‘nimki’, banana, bread, sweets, local toasts and other various items are served as Tiffin.
2. Students pay 20 Taka per month as Tiffin fees.
3. The school has a library with over 5000 books.
4. The school magazine ‘Shotabdi’ was first published in 1897, but has not been published every year since then.

Admission policy of Rangamati Government High School

Admission goes on to class 3, 6 & 9 with admission test. In some cases a very small amount of students get admitted in other classes.

Dr. Amit Chakma, President and Vice-Chancellor, Professor in the Department of Chemical Engineering, The University of Western Ontario, Ontario, Canada. In 1998, he recognized with Canada‘s "Top 40 Under 40" Award, given annually to honour Canada's best and brightest in their fields younger than 40. He is a fellow of the Canadian Academy of Engineering.
